Paul Campbell's Pledge

I WILL NOT PLAY THE SYSTEMPaul Campbell

I WILL NOT BEND THE RULES

I WILL NOT BREAK THE LAW

I welcomed the tough new proposals announced by Conservative Party leader David Cameron MP to cut the costs of politics and politicians. In these difficult economic times when the Government is asking everyone to make sacrifices it is essential that politicians lead the way.

Our party leader David Cameron said: "With the Conservatives, the gravy train will well and truly hit the buffers." Some of the Conservatives proposals to cut the cost of politics include:

  • 5% cut in the salaries paid to Ministers
  • 33% cut in the number of Ministerial cars
  • 10% cut in the number of MP's
  • An end to subsidised food and drink.

This is my 5 Point Pledge on MP’s Expense

  1. I will always have my main home here in the Constituency.
  2. I will never claim for food, furniture or household goods.
  3. I will never use taxpayers money to pay for leaflets (the £10,000 Communication Allowance which the Conservatives will abolish).
  4. I will always ensure that details of my expenses are published for everyone to see.
  5. I will never forget that it is your money that is used to pay MP’s expenses.
