One in Four Farmers Living in Poverty

ONE IN FOUR FARMERS LIVING IN POVERTYFarming image

Figures obtained by the Conservatives show that 25% of farm households in England were in poverty. Paul Campbell says: “This is one of our most important industries and now we see how tough it is for farmers.

Despite welcome increases in incomes, large numbers of farm businesses are barley breaking even as the costs and regulatory burdens imposed by Government increase.

Farmers are being undervalued and undermined and we need to support them more. Paul Campbell is asking that everyone should do their bit by supporting local food producers by buying local produce.

At the recent Conservative Party Conference in Manchester I was proud to be part of a Conservative Team that attended an event sponsored by local farmers to highlight their industry.
